THE LIVING SHIELD - The Spiritic Volume III
About
This newly revised and expanded futuristic tale of the Spiritic is now told in three illustrated electronic volumes.
In Volume III - The Living Shield, the abducted half Earth-human, half Sed-Genal, Dr. Rom Quanadeen, is as mad as a cut snake. A pacifist on her homeworld, Numork, she didn’t ask for this fight on a war-torn alien planet, Jupol, but she isn’t about to let Esadov, a sentient and lethal alien bacterium, destroy her species.
The 1000-year-old smart bug is working through an infected victim, Raak-Kaal, a former pacifist turned manic war lord.
Can Rom beat it?
The deck seems stacked against her when her young Karpinian monk ally, Junaid, is knifed by a crazed Venger, Sedalus, in New Banika.
Can she save him?
Then her Jupolian ally, Josi Talim, goes missing after arrowing her craft into a suicidal dive over a Voshland canyon to save Rom from Raak-Kaal’s Nixer fighters.
Esadov learns a galactic time warp between Numork and Jupol means its arch-enemy human, Forbear, is long dead, yet it’s pacifying to learn his grandson, Kru Sigor, is on hand to suffer in his stead.
It shucks its Raak-Kaal meat-suit and recruits Cycusian Viking, Prytalior, to hijack Kru’s rescue ship the Ruconicca, along with its sonic weaponry.
A desperate Rom carries a dying Kru into the Voshland’s boiling mud geyser that saved her life. She needs him, his spirit-guide, Forbear, together with her spirit-guide, Suvana. If they can’t destroy Esadov, they’ll have to outwit it.
Aboard Ruconicca, Kru’s aide, Ormat Niosic, and the starship’s AI, Acumen, take on Esadov in a mind-crushing showdown.
And hope for a miracle…
